We first used David from Highland Home Inspections when purchasing a condo in Brighton a few years back. He was very thorough and spent a good amount of time combing through both the common parts of the building and the individual unit. We recently used him again before purchasing a single family home. The thing we like about David is that he points out and reports a ton of issues (both major and very minor) while walking you through the building, but explains them as he goes as to not totally scare you every time he makes a note. As first time home buyers we had little insight as to what would be big expenses and what were minor issues. At the end of the inspection David gives you a quick rundown of the main problem areas that you may wish to bring up to the sellers and an overall feeling about the condition of the building. His reports are very thorough and we received them by the end of the following day, if not sooner. We highly recommend Highland Home Inspections!

David was a pleasure to work with and from the start I felt like he was on my side and looking out for my best interests. For the inspection, David came by with his colleague Brett and they both did a very thorough review of the unit as well as the exterior and the basement. They explained all of the different issues they found and explained which ones were the most important to focus on. I got a detailed report the next day. It helped me negotiate money from the seller and gave me a list of things I know I need to address in the short, medium and long term.

May I call you for further advice especially in regards to plumbing, heating and wiring as it was too much for me to fully comprehend in that situation?

I trained with David to become a home inspector. Part of the rigorous training includes working with a licensed home inspector for 125 inspections. David was clear in his explanations of equipment and conditions with me, and the buyers. David is extremely knowledgeable but more important he is able to explain and share his knowledge. Obviously I benefited from this, but his clients do as well. In teaching about report writing he emphasized the importance of the client getting clear, complete and accurate information. He modeled customer service. I benefited greatly training with David. The responsibility of teaching someone meant that David was always at the top of his game and was forced to remain current in the field.
